Our story
Award winning cake artist
Lyanda Alder
My wonderful 'caking' journey began eight years ago with my first decorated cake,
an overly ambitious three tier cake for my daughter's birthday...it was a success (or at least so I thought at the time) but more importantly it ignited a passion for all things cake and a yearning to learn more about the amazing world of creative cake decorating.

I am a wife, mother and grandmother to my wonderful family who have whole heartedly supported me through the highlights and many frustrations of my 'caking' journey. Building Sugarboo and expanding it's clientele, constantly learning and creating new ideas, challenging myself...it's all about the cake and the smiles they create!

A very important part of the Sugarboo journey is competing in International cake competitions. It inspires, challenges and keeps me pushing to develop new ideas and techniques.
In 2019 I won two Bronze awards at Cake International in the 'celebration cake' and 'sculpted cake' categories.
Then in 2021, my entry into the 'Celebration Cake' category won Gold and 1st place in the class.
In addition three further entries won two silvers and a Merit award.

In April 2022 Sugarboo opened the doors to it's first cake studio based in the beautiful Cotswolds village of Milton-Under-Wychwood. With an open kitchen for all our visitors to observe the 'back of house' creativity that goes in to every cake and bake, it also has two, 'filled to the brim' shop counters to satisfy the sweet cravings of locals and tourists alike. Offering a comprehensive service, Sugarboo are also pleased to have introduced a national and local delivery service.
All our cakes and bakes are produced with the utmost love, care and attention to detail using some of the finest local products. We have recently teamed up with Matthew's Cotswold Flour and Billy's Eggs in order to continue our ethos of support independent and local!

And finally, the long awaited 'Brownie wagon' is now on the road. We are so excited to be taking the big pink, fondly named 'Boo mobile' to as many festivals, local events and private parties that we possibly can this year.
Sugarboo is very much based around community and supporting fellow businesses as and when we can.

I am proud to say that Sugarboo continues to grow and expand, and look forward to creating many more extraordinary cakes. After many years in the fashion, retail and design industry, I can honestly say that the world of creative cakes is where I want to be...

Thank you for reading!
